(BRPTO’s IP gazette of May 9th, 2017)The BRPTO published yesterday, May 9th, 2017, Rule #190/2017 which limits the services that can be carried out in paper format.According to Rule #190/2017, several services will no longer be available in paper format, such as: Request for anticipated publication; Request for recordal of applicant’s name and address change; Request for ownership transfer recordal; Submission of third-party observations; Late filing of documents; Submission of amendments to the application; Attorney data change; Submission of sequence listing after the filing step; Request for fast-track examination; Request for express abandonment, among others.Rule #190/2017 shall be effective as of May 17, 2017.The original Portuguese version of Rule #190/2017 is available here.
